Effective home dog training can be an exhausting and time-consuming process. You should put extra patience, consisteny in order to teach your puppy (or a grown up dog) what is allowed, and what is not allowed in house. The earlier you start your home dog training – the better. Here are some tips to effective home dog training aimed to help you solve the most frequently puppy problems:

Some people find it extremely difficult to teach their dog to poop or urinate outside only. Crate training can help in solving this problem, as dogs (as any other animals) hate to soil their own sleeping place. Remember – shouting and beating up your puppy will not solve the problem neither will bringing him out numerous times per day will– he will simply not understand what you want from him.

Your puppy is eating and chewing everything that comes to his sight. Well that is what puppies usually do. There is a simple way to solve the problem too. First of all try to keep a close eye at your little friend during most of the time. When you spot him chewing any of your home belongings remove him from there or remove the object from his mouth) and say “no or “off”. After a few repetitions the puppy will get the idea – that no means no. if you are unable to keep an eye on it 24/7 than place the puppy cradle in an area free of stuff he can damage. A good idea is to buy him a rubber toy to substitute your possessions in this chewing game.

Inappropriate behavior toward family members can be annoying. Your puppy is a social animal and although you may not understand his socializing reactions, they seem absolutely normal to him. That is why you shouldn’t be amazed that the puppy runs like crazy when a new person comes to visit you or when he tries to lick your face as sign of joy. He simply does not know if this is acceptable or not until you show him. Use simple commands and obedience training to show your puppy how to behave.

Finally be very patient and strict in your home dog training. Reward your dog any time he does something right and punish him for inappropriate behavior. Put yourself in the leader’s position and don’t you even let your puppy intimidate you. you will see that forming a relationship of trust between you two is not that difficult after the initial hardship period. You can expect that after one or two month your puppy will be fully home trained and the hard times during your first weeks together will become family jokes.
