Police dogs are often perceived as dangerous and frightening animals. However they have just like normal dogs with their keeper or his family. In most cases, they are very tender towards children and made an excellent home dog. This is why, when a police dog reaches certain age, it is pensioned off and given for adoption. In the most cases, the dog holder adopts the dog. Retired police dogs make extent guard or protection dogs – they are old for serving the police but young enough to become great family friends and helpers or home purposes.
