35. Things To Remember When
Teaching The Broad Jump

Keep the dog on leash until she knows how to jump.

Keep the jump narrow while making leash corrections.

Stand with your back slightly toward the dog.

Hold the leash in BOTH hands.

Give the command WITHOUT MOVING YOUR ARMS.

If the dog doesn't start, or if she attempts to amble across, jerk the leash

FORWARD while you are giving the praise.

Snap the leash parallel to the ground.

Slacken the leash while the dog is landing.

At the moment of landing, call out a forceful "Come!" and snap the leash toward you, giving extra praise.

Practice in strange surroundings.

Practice with BROAD JUMPS unusual in appearance.
